| Class I ~ Restligeists: The term derives from the German "restlich" meaning 'residual', and "Geist", meaning 'ghost' or 'spirit'. This phenomenon describes those encounters which seem to be a snapshot of time, much like a recording. Also known as 'stone tape recordings' or 'residual hauntings'.
Class II ~ Poltergeists: The term derives from the German 'poltern' meaning 'to make noise', and 'Geist', meaning "ghost" or "spirit". This phenomenon is often segregated from other ghostly activity due to its more insidious nature.
Class III ~ Shadow People: 'Shadow People' are allegedly shadowy supernatural forms that take on human aspects. The 'shadow people' phenomena is a modern take on the classic ghost.
Class IV ~ Hauntings: A 'haunting' usually centres around a building or room within a building, and has a range of phenomena rather than concentrating on a single type, from apparitions, to sounds, smells and reports of being touched.
Class V ~ Crisis Apparitions: Crisis Apparitions are among the rarest of phenomena experienced in modern times. The phenomena usually surrounds and only occurs to a single person, and is linked with times of crisis (such as an impending accident) as the name suggests.
Class VI ~ Religious Entities: Religious Entities are those alleged supernatural sightings of beings classified by religious doctrine: demons, angels etc.
