Welcome to the Community section of the Otherworld North East Research Group website. This section deals with matters in the public eye, or where the public and general community can become involved, or for that matter material and links from other paranormal communities and groups from throughout the UK and beyond.

The most active section with the Community area is of course our Community Forums. The present incarnation of the forums, utilising up-to-date Simple Machines Forum software, has been running since July 2007 and has chalked up over 12,000 posts since then from users throughout the UK and in some cases the US. The forum is FREE to join and requires a valid e-mail address in order to sign up - this is a simple security measure to help track down and ban anyone wishing to spam the site. The forums also contain a fully integrated photo gallery that can be used by forum members.

The Community area also contains Newsfeeds and items presented by other paranormal groups, as well as a useful Contact Us section for OWNE members, interviews and lists of Upcoming and Past Events which OWNE has partaken in. We also have a large external Links section to help you find the information you're after if you can't find it here. OWNE's past Media appearances, including our recent stint on BBC Look North is also detailed in this section.

The new Otherworld North East website was launched for public perusal and use on Sunday 17th of August 2008. The design was intended for easy navigation, easy formatted printing (each page should print on a standard printer as you see it on the screen) to avoid having to download separate .pdf versions, and also to provide interesting and useful pages of information on local history and the paranormal. Please note that the site is still under general update construction and will be added to as and when sections are finalised.

OWNE's webhost, 1&1 undertook an attempt to either modify or upgrade the mySQL database powering the community forums. Unfortunately this resulted in the site being offline for nearly a day, and when fixed had produced a series of internal errors resulting in over 300 internal errors/hour developing on the database-driven site. Ultimately this resulted in the need for a new forum and necessitated the early release of the new .html website.
