OWNE Research Society Membership
Are you wanting to get involved with paranormal investigation and local history research? If so, why not consider joining OWNE? Please remember that OWNE are a data collection and local history based group, so don't expect what you see on TV. We are not here to promote 'spiritual development' etc - an important distinction from many other teams.
Membership of OWNE exists on 3 levels, depending on exactly how involved you want to get!
Forum Membership
Cost: FREE.
What you Get: Forum Members can get their free account simply by joining the Forum. All you need is a valid email address to get your account, and with it you have access to the Forums, public Photo Gallery, all elements of the website such as articles etc, as well as Forum features such as games etc. There are also currently 3 free e-books for Forum Members to download: Wartime Memories Volume 1, Investigating Accepted Methodologies and North East Local History Volume 1. The Forum Member is one who wants to take part in discussions about the paranormal, but doesn't want to take that interest much further. Are you already a member of our forums? If the answer is yes, then you're already a Forum Member! Just log in and away you go... if not, please register an account then join in the discussions!
Society Membership
Cost: £6.50/year per person or £12.50/year per person
Subscription Renewal Date: 1st May each year
What you Get: Society Members get all the benefits of Forum Membership, plus extras! As well as the free e-books provided to Forum Members, Society Members also have access to OWNE's Haunted History range of e-books: currently available are Kielder Castle, The Harperley Hotel and Newcastle Keep. Society Members also have access to OWNE's selected video footage clips, sound clips and photographs, as well as experiment reports as and when they become available, months before they are made public on the website. Society Members also receive a newsletter twice yearly, the November edition being the Proceedings of the Society. Society Members also have the ability to write their own articles for inclusion on the OWNE site. Society Members will also have first refusal of any spare investigation places and depending on how many Members we get, we may well try to organise talks and lectures. If you would like to become an OWNE Society Member, please access your Profile and click on Paid Subscriptions. The basic rate is £6.50/year for online membership, and £12.50/year for 'paper' membership when information, newsletters etc are sent to your door.
Investigative Membership
Cost: £20/year per person.
Subscription Renewal Date: 1st August each year.
What you Get: Investigative Members get all the benefits of Forum and Society Membership, plus extras. These extras mainly involve having first refusal on all OWNE field investigations and experiments (on a first come first served basis), as well as access to OWNE's general equipment pool, the ability to propose investigations, methodologies and experiments and of course access to all photographs, video and other media as they become available. Investigative Members will also be covered by OWNE's Public Liability Insurance. Unlike Forum and Society Membership, application for Investigative Membership must be initially done via online form (or you can send the form via the post), which will then, if the applicant is deemed suitable by the Committee, follow with a face-to-face meeting.

So Why do we Charge a Subscription Anyway?
Society Membership subscriptions go towards the day to day running and updating of the Otherworld North East Research Society website. Investigative Membership subs go towards the group's Public Liability Insurance, costs such as postage and printing and in the unlikely event of any spare cash, supplementing the equipment pool. No member of OWNE draws personal fees or wages from the cash raised by Member Subs.
We hope that you, the visitor to this site, will be interested enough to join us on whatever level you choose, and we look forward to seeing you on the discussion forums!
